Red Tractor Assurance is a world-leading food chain assurance scheme that underpins the high standard of British food & drink.
Red Tractor Assurance has a comprehensive set of standards for ducks, which are designed to ensure the health and welfare of the birds.
The farm standards cover a wide range of areas, such as:
Documents and Procedures: Implementation of a Flock Health Plan to proactively manage and improve the health and welfare of the birds.
Personnel: Ensuring that all staff members who have responsibility for the birds are properly trained and competent.
Traceability and Assurance: All birds can be traced back to their origin, and all stages of production are monitored.
Housing, Shelter, and Handling: Ensuring an appropriate physical environment in which the birds are kept.
Feed and Water: Ensuring the birds have access to appropriate feed and water.
Animal Health and Welfare: Regular health checks, appropriate veterinary care, and ensuring that the birds’ welfare needs are met at all times.
Likewise, our Elite Hatchery has also been awarded Red Tractor Assured status. Similar standards are also seen for the Hatchery, with particular emphasis on biosecurity and cleanliness. Ensuring that any chicks hatched are free from disease and in good health.
